Setting up alerts in Track My Ride

Get notified when important events happen with your vehicles and drivers.

Alerts can be set up to notify you of important events via push notification (mobile app alert), email, or SMS.

There are various trigger events you can specify, including:

  • Your driver arriving at work
  • Your engine turning on
  • Your vehicle speeding

Available alert types

Track My Ride offers a variety of alerts that can be set up and configured. Alert types include:

Movement

  • Driving or journeying
  • Speed exceeding (single point)
  • Speed exceeding (3 consecutive points)
  • Entering a zone
  • Leaving a zone

Maintenance & Service

  • Odometer exceeding (km)
  • Hourmeter exceeding (hours)
  • Date exceeding (date)

Safety (Hardware tracker)

  • Motion detected while engine is off
  • Engine on
  • Voltage
  • Inputs

Green Driving (Hardware tracker)

  • Harsh acceleration
  • Harsh braking
  • Harsh cornering

How to set up an alert

  1. Open the Alerts page
  2. Navigate to the Setup tab
  3. Click the green New button
  4. Choose the Alert Type from the dropdown menu
  5. Input the alert Criteria you would like (if applicable)
  6. Select All vehicles and devices or individually select which vehicles/devices to monitor
  7. Input how you would like to receive the alert:
    • Push notifications (mobile app)
    • Email Address
    • SMS (Phone)
  8. Click the Save Alert button

Note: To input multiple emails or numbers, separate the values with a comma


How to edit an alert

  1. Open the Alerts page
  2. Navigate to the Setup tab
  3. Click the pencil button to the right of the alert row you want to edit
  4. Make your changes in the popup window
  5. Click the Save Alert button

Alert settings

When setting up an alert, you can configure:

Alert Status

  • Enabled - The alert is active
  • Disabled - The alert is inactive

Criteria

Depends on the alert type. For example:

  • Zone name (for entering/leaving zone alerts)
  • Speed threshold (for speeding alerts)
  • Odometer/hourmeter value (for maintenance alerts)

Vehicle or Mobile Device

Choose which vehicles or devices trigger this alert:

  • Select All vehicles and devices for fleet-wide alerts
  • Select specific vehicles individually

Email Address

Enter one or more email addresses to receive notifications. Separate multiple addresses with commas.

SMS (Phone)

Enter one or more phone numbers to receive SMS notifications. Separate multiple numbers with commas. This field is optional.

Push Notification

Enable push notifications to receive alerts in the Track My Ride mobile app.

Frequency Limit

Control how often the alert can trigger. Options include:

  • 15 minutes
  • Other time intervals

This prevents receiving too many notifications for the same event.

Zone Limit

(Available for certain alert types) Configure specific zone parameters for the alert.

Suppression Criteria

Click Configure to set up conditions that prevent the alert from triggering in specific situations.


Viewing alert history

To see when alerts have been triggered:

  1. Open the Alerts page
  2. Click the Alerts History tab

This shows all past alerts with details including:

  • Alert Criteria
  • Name (vehicle/device name)
  • Notification method
  • Alerts Raised (count)
  • Status

Managing alerts

From the Setup tab on the Alerts page, you can:

  • View all alerts - See a list of configured alerts
  • Edit alerts - Click the pencil icon to modify an alert
  • Delete alerts - Click the bin icon to remove an alert
  • Enable/Disable alerts - Toggle the status without deleting
  • Search alerts - Use the search box to find specific alerts

Alert status indicators

In the alerts list, you can see:

  • Enabled (green) - Alert is active and monitoring
  • Disabled (grey) - Alert is inactive
