Network & Coverage
Can I still use my old 3G network device?
As of 28 October 2024, Australia's 3G networks have been permanently shut down. If you own an older tracker model (TMR-S1, TMR-S5, or TMR-S7 purchased before 2020), it will no longer work on Australian networks. Please contact us to upgrade to a 4G-compatible model.
What mobile networks does Track My Ride use?
Our trackers use Australia's 4G networks from Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone. Your tracker automatically connects to whichever network has the strongest signal in your area.
Do I need to buy a SIM card?
No! Every Track My Ride device comes with a built-in SIM card. All data and network access across all three mobile networks is included in your subscription – no extra charges, no setup required.
How do I know if Track My Ride will work in my area?
Check our coverage maps at https://www.trackmyride.com.au/coverage to see network availability in your area. Keep in mind that local conditions (like buildings or terrain) can affect coverage.
What happens if I drive somewhere with no mobile coverage?
No worries! If you're in a mobile blackspot, your tracker stores location data internally. Once you return to an area with coverage, all the stored data automatically uploads. Our TMR-S8 model can store up to 400,000 location points (that's way more than you'll ever need!).
How accurate is the GPS tracking?
Our trackers use three different satellite systems (GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo) for faster, more accurate positioning. Location accuracy is typically 5 metres or better.
