Legal & Responsible Use
Do I have to tell people their vehicle is being tracked?
Yes, you must. Australian law requires you to inform anyone driving a GPS-tracked vehicle that tracking is installed. This isn't optional – it's a legal requirement.
Legal requirements vary by state and situation, so we recommend checking your local laws and getting legal advice if you're unsure.
What is Track My Ride's policy on secret tracking?
We absolutely do not support secret or covert GPS tracking. You must:
- Inform your staff or drivers that GPS tracking is installed
- Display a visible GPS tracking sticker in the vehicle (we include these free with every tracker)
This is part of our Terms and Conditions. Responsible tracking builds trust and ensures you're complying with the law.
Can you give me legal advice about GPS tracking?
No, we can't provide legal advice. If you have specific legal questions about GPS tracking, please consult a qualified lawyer.
